Synchrotron Radiation techniques and applications

Professors involved: Paolo Ghigna, Martina Fracchia

Course learning outcomes/abstract: The course reviews the main techniques for spectroscopic investigation of matter using synchrotron radiation. The principal techniques described are: XPS, XAS, RIXS and inelastic X-Ray scattering, X-ray diffraction, also in the resonant regime. The course also presents a brief introduction on X-ray production and usage at a synchrotron radiation source

Goals: understanding of the main spectroscopic X-ray techniques for investigating the atomic, electronic and vibrational structure of matter
